New Portable Keyboard
Tuesday October 2, 2001 EST
By Marcus Adolfsson

Kensington introduced today the PocketType portable keyboard, designed for the Visor, Visor Deluxe, Visor Platinum, Visor Pro and Visor Neo handheld computers (no Edge support). The small, clip-on keyboard allows people with Visors on the go to quickly and easily enter information without fussing with Graffiti or bulky keyboard attachments.

"We developed PocketType to increase the functionality and ease of use of handheld computers," says Don Angel, Director of Mobility at Kensington. "PocketType allows people to quickly and easily enter information, while leaving the Visor's Springboard expansion slot available for additional accessories."

Weighing less than half a pound (.4 lbs) and small enough to carry in a pocket, PocketType is as mobile as its users. Key features and benefits of PocketType include:

-Easy to Use: requires no batteries, so people can snap it on and start typing

-Scroll Wheel: allows people to scroll through windows and documents or to select text quickly

-Speed: PocketType software features key repeat functions and shortcuts that make entering data even faster

-Auto Correct: PocketType software automatically corrects common misspellings and letter transpositions to improve accuracy without effort. People can also add words they tend to misspell or even create their own shorthand

-Standard Layout: essentially identical to the qwerty keyboard, so users won't have to search for key

-Compatibility: - PocketType software is designed to work with other portable keyboards and handheld accessories

"Our developers are continually introducing innovative designs that increase the mobility and productivity of people with Handspring Visors," said Rita Sharma, business development manager for Handspring. "Kensington's PocketType is an easy-to-use tool for today's busy executives."

PocketType will be available at kensington.com in mid October, retailing for $49.99.
