Can I use rechargeables?

Yes, but you might want to avoid NiCad batteries and stick with NiMH or rechargeable alkaline batteries.

More Information

Yes, but you might want to avoid NiCad batteries and stick with NiMH or rechargeable alkaline batteries, since the curve of rate of discharge for the NiCads is supposedly harder to predict. Note that the usual settings for the built-in battery gauge will not work properly and you may get premature low battery warnings, since it's optimized for alkaline batteries. To change your battery settings, use the .7 shortcut. To help you keep a handle on your power usage, you can install a monitor such as BatteryInfo. Lithium ion AAA batteries do not exist. In any case, an extra set of triple A's in the briefcase or purse can really help in a pinch.
