Geode in late Dec

Monday November 6, 2000 - 4:10 PM EST - By James Hromadka

GeoDiscovery announced today that Electronics Manufacturing Group (EMG) was selected to manufacture the upcoming Geode GPS module. From the press release:
The Geode is a revolutionary new GPS module that fits into the Springboard™ expansion slot of any Handspring™ Visor™ handheld computer. The Geode integrates rich Internet content and maps with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) technology. The agreement will allow GeoDiscovery to address the tremendous demand for the Geode GPS module by leveraging EMG's ability to provide complete product procurement, production and final assembly through its existing supply chain capabilities. Pre-production began at EMG's Calgary facility in the third quarter of this year. EMG will deliver more than $7.5M (Cdn) of products and services on the initial production build scheduled to hit the marketplace in late fourth quarter and during early first quarter of 2001.
Hopefully the Geode will be out in time to fill a few stockings this Christmas.
