Handspring in Color

Tuesday September 14, 1999 - 11:30 PM EST - By Scott Cropper

Handspring is evaluating the two DragonBall chips Motorola announced today according to Yahoo! News. The DragonBall VZ, mentioned earlier, runs at 33MHz with on-chip support for a 256 color LCD and has support for SDRAM as well. The other chip, the DragonBall EZ, runs at 20MHz and supports color but requires other external components. The EZ chip is available now and is currently used by the Palm Vx.

"We're not ignoring (color)," said Handspring spokesman Allen Bush. But Handspring won't offer it just because it's cool, either, he said. Instead, the company will offer color "when it can be done the right way."
