Although the Palm V/IIIx and the Visors all use the same 16 MHz Motorola Dragonball EZ CPU, the Visor has been optimized (eg. decreased number of wait-states) to increase its overall speed by about 58% (as tested using Neal Bridges' Benchmark utility).

And, with overclocking software such as Afterburner II, the speed can be increased to about 170% faster (!) than a non-overclocked V/IIIx, but at the expense of decreased battery life. Note, however, that if you are a Palm IIIx/V owner, you can match the native speed of a Visor by running CruiseControl.
