Issue the shortcut command (in Graffiti, it looks like a lower case \"L\") and then a \".\" followed by a 3. This will turn the auto-off feature off. Do a soft reset to restore auto-off.

Note: To issue these, you need to be somewhere you can normally enter text, such as a Memo Pad record.
