Opinions: FlipCover
alexmathew | Transparent covers? |
| The idea is good - just like the fliplid from Tactilis.com - but a transparent lid would allow me to see alarms, addresses etc without touching the screen. Also it would allow GPS map operation (I am always afraid that I will touch the screen during GPS operation and reset the map!) |
steelkilt | Enough Junior Businessman products already! |
| Please. A product that takes over the springboard slot? Wow, that's ingenious ;-) Yes, I know there's an adapter to use if your springboard slot is occupied, but, as expected it's typical Junior Businessman fare: stick on and pray.
And do these people really thing they're going to convince springboard manufacturers to retool in order to produce flipcover-compliant springboards??!!!
Handspring should have manufactured an integrated flipcover like the Palm IIIx cover. Someday they will. In the meantime, rinky dink companies like flipcover will continue to profit by pushing snake oil.

DingoFish | Pretty good, but handle with care. |
| I bought one and within 3 weeks I broke the little thingy between the springboard insert and the case. It does not take much torque to pop that baby right off. Overall, it is a great idea, and the case fits tighter than the original cover. I'd recommend it, but just handle with care. |
chartboy | blue flipcover for blue visor deluxe |
| I have a blue flipcover to match my blue visor deluxe. It looks like it should have been standard equipment. It works great when you don't use any modules. I have several and don't use them all the time. The flipcover looks great and protects my visor without adding weight and bulk. |
Stevesm | Block module slot =dumb! |

SunVisor236 | I THOUGHT OF THIS! |
| A Flipcover that snapped into the springboard slot! I knew someone would think of it. I posted my idea on purepalm.com and I got a few responses. maybe someone paid attention and used my idea! |
Desimike | Definite MUST have! |
| I just ordered two of these babies- (Splurged the extra $3.00 for the 2-day delivery); Graphite for myself, Ice for my fiance. The Visors' lack of a flip cover played against my better judgment when deciding whether to purhcase the VDLX. Visors, with the springboard expandability, are the better than the 3com Palm competition, but often I questioned why Handspring did not put out this much-needed accessory themselves.
Thanks to flip-cover, the wait is over. VDLX, VPLAT, and VPSM owners can now enjoy the protection and convenience of a flip-cover, without getting the "super-thin" Edge (Too thin and really not that much smaller), or worse yet, a Palm 3com unit (Although OS upgradeable, seriously lacks the expandability and functionality of springboards).
The flip-cover is as essential to the Visor as a stylus. My hat goes off to the developers and I STRONGLY recommend this product of anyone using their Visor outside of a padded room.

MThorn | Works just right! |
| I liked the flipcover immediately. It fits well and flips-what more can you ask! I don't use a lot of Springboard module though. If you do you will have to use the original cover while the module is inserted.
Thanks for a simple, effective, affordable product. |
Mark Squires | great except for module issue |
| It's terrific, just as advertised. I bought TWO. Of course, if you actually use modules, you'll want to buy more than one.
The big problem is that modules that stick out--visor phone, eye module--can't be used with FlipCover. But for everyday use, it's what Handspring should've done in the first place. |
scottp | exactly what I was looking for |
| I use this with the 8mb springboard and the adapter for the flip cover. It is exactly what I needed and I highly recommend it. |
