Opinions: MemPlug for CompactFlash
susanrm | Competition bringing a better product |
| I'm beta testing VFS software for the FlashPlus and other Kopsis-supported CF adapters. It's really great, and best of all, really compatible, even with 3.1 devices! Wait a bit and see. The FlashPlus will most likely be a better product in a little time. |
Brucew1126 | Battery Drain |
| Since I bought this unit from Palmgear.com. I have been very distraught over the drain of batteries. It even occurs when unit is shut off. I tried two brands of CF. Sansdisk 64 and MR Flash 128 and both drained after 24 hours of non use. I had the unit on for a total of 15 minutes. So this leads to support. Palmgear says "Once we receive your return, we will promptly address this issue". Heck I want a new one now
Sorry for the rambling |
VietPlaya | best yet!!! |
| i have in recent bought the first compact card adapter from matchbook drive and then i had already thought that it was the best...then i upgraded to the innopocket flashplus...i was in awe...it was the best thing ever....of course...memplug came out with there version of the cf reader...so i was like...yeah i'm going to get it...but it was still a lil too much for me...then CompUSA had a promotion going with 20 back so i was like what the heck...i went out and bought the memplug cf...and i was blown away....this thing is the best thing yet....i loved it so much...i got bought the pidirect as well....the pidirect does wonders....i can now say my handspring prism has 72mb of memory...i don't know what i would do with out it now...i have my thesaurus, dictionary, and word processor all on my handspring...and i still have memory to spare....best item yet!!! highly recommend |
mysterie | I vote this as the most useful Module of them all! |
| I waited and waited for a good CF module and this was it. I looked at the early Matchbook Drives and Innopocket Drives but I wanted a Memplug version with CF because of the included software and flash upgradability.
I love this module. I can backup my VPR, read uploaded stories, watch videos (without sound, the gMovie 2.0 comes with sound but it sounds horrible on the Visors), see pictures that I have taken with my digital camera. There were initial problems with use of the module due to the handspring 1.4 update (remove that back to the 1.1 and it should fix mopst of the problems with running the modules). Other dislikes, that PiDirect wasn't included, the pictures I take on my digital camera and view are really small. Similar to the 1.8" LCD on the camera. They should make it so the whole screen can be use to view the picture.
I highly recommend this module for everyone! |
uberdingo | great product |
| not sure where the negatives are coming from on this - maybe earlier versions of palmos have problems. I have a prism, I got the card, put it in, did the most recent firmware update to 1.62. No problems and it works great. I have an old 8MB cf card in it. I tested it with a 128MB viking cf and that worked as well.
True plug and play, good software. Go buy these now while they are still in stock. |
amr01 | After updating firmware, it doesn't work any more! |
| I did a firmware update and now all of the Cf cards that worked before do not work at all. For a product that comes in an official HandSpring box and is sold over -the-counter, it's a rather shakey device... doesn't seem like a "Plug & Play" device. Too much configuring for me. I just wanted it to work properly. It's going beck to the store tomorrow. |
Armengar | very versatile and upgradable |
| This is a high quality item. You can expand your visor cheaply, and without hassle. The Plug and Play ability the programs have is awesome. I give it a 100% |
calhoe | Great companion to the Smart Media |
| I bought one so I can use the CF from my digicam. |
dietrichbohn | Not yet, anyway |
| It's a great product, but no VFS yet & no VFS for 3.1? Hold off and see what the competition may bring to the table, and if it doesn't hold up, then go and get it. |
