Opinions: Handspring 8 MB Flash Module
pel in chicago | of course |
| Definitely worth it. Simple and easy to use. |
john | Great Module |
| I'm quite pleased with being able to carry around tons of books -- no matter what my mood, there's one to read. I use it for little informal quickie backups of specific databases. And, i keep not often used utilities and games there.
It's a bit pricey, but I'm glad I have it. |
NavXO | Excellent value in a small package |
| Love this module. Lost all of my settings for the omniremote springboard and had hotsync'd with my computer, losing all the settings in my back-up. GFortunately, I made a copy of my database on my Flash Module and was able to retrieve everything! Well worth the money. |
Bobb | Very useful in storing files. |
| I have no problems. I can store all
my E-books and a lot of seldom used
files in the module. As a user who
finds himself storing programs to use later.
I would have no problem letting folks know
I endorse this module whole heartedly. |
Anonymous | Can't Load To Module |
| Great for storage, but will be lovely
when we who have been "tricked" out of
$80 are able to write directly to it!
Until then, I suggest those of you thinking
about buying one, KEEP YOUR MONEY
and WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
VoxDei | A must-have |
| I've worked with the module for three months without any problems at all. I've got all my "big footprint" items such as pictures, maps, and text-libraries on there, as well as about 40 games! My problem is that the 8 megs are about full! I keep it in the slot at all times and amaze people with the information I've got at my fingertips. This is one of the reasons HandSpring will be so successful. |
unrester | NoAvantGo or writing to module- don't buy |
| They should put a disclaimer at the head of their blurb for the flash memory-- can not use most applications on this flash, nor can you continually write to it.
I still only have 2, maybe 2.5mb of useable space on my Visor( with the quote-unquote 8mb flash). I am unable to move my databases or my AvantGo or anything else to the flash and update at hotsync.
Fix it, please! |
Anonymous | Works beautifully |
| As long as you dont use it for data that you wish to edit |
Phil | A good module, when its limits are understood |
| With the caveat that the module is best for storing applications and not data that needs to be modified, I heartily recommend the module.
I've noticed a few complaints about the module causing 'crashes'. In 6 months I haven't encountered any, other than with one document reader which doesn't like documents stored in the flash module. A different document reader handles documents stored in the module fine.

Paul | need extra memory? A good solution |
| I bought the Visor (non-deluxe) and I needed extra memory (boy am I kicking myself now for not buying the Deluxe)
The flash memory has been great. Very simple to use. My only complaint is the compatibility problem with software that utilise a database. If this was fixed, I’m sure more would buy this accesory. |
