Anonymous | Cool unit! |
| I like the fact that I can plug in
a different Handspring module but
still receive my e-mail. I also
like the affordable $25 plan with
Skytel. The software is pretty
easy to use too. |
Ben Combee | Nice programming interface |
| I've written code to interface with this module, and I have to give Glenayre props for having a nice, simple API for programming the device in C. I hope to see some very interesting applications developed for it soon. |
Captain | easy to use |
| active link is an easy to install and easy to use addition to the spring. Ugly no doubt, but available now and it functions as represented. First generation now, will get sleeker and better looking on the next model, I would guess. |
RaymondG | A great begining for a PDA |
| The concept of the Visor is smart allowing for so many applications to work on one device. Sure I would like it all one unit, but hey thats years away. In the meantime the wireless Activelink is great. My demands have been to accept email, stock info, and wre testing small amounts of data. I work generally outside my office where we are considering purchasing the Visor for the whole company, with reflex transmission or Activelink using Skytel at this point far better in coverage, range and ensured message delivery. We found RIMM in the end not able to carry all the demands we can get from the Visor and yes I type on the the Visor, RIMM is a pain. Rimm on the hand is sure pretty, it is on the other hand just a pretty pager. Its been only two weeks but so far very pleased or maybe better said suprised. Sorry for the first time buyers that omit the sheild not wise on the part of Handspring. Also found the unit a little stiff fitting onto the Visor. |
Anonymous | I found it very useful for my needs |
| I found that it was easy to use and at the same time very useful. The internet search was useful, I like to get sports info and stocks and it was very helpful.the two way paging is great. that's all |
mlb | activelink |
| Just a 2-way pager..No access to the real networks or internet. |
Anonymous | Great way to connect your Visor. |
| Using Infobeam and Beamlink is the greatest. The coverage from Skytel is really good. I really think this is a great product. |
Anonymous | A visionary product |
| that predates the VisorPhone and other "smart phones'" wireless expansion of PDA's. Handspring no doubt benefited from shielding lessons learned with the @ctiveLink enough to enable the launching of their own VisorPhone. |
Anonymous | not compatible |
| having to buy a new visor or exchange your visor for a new one defeats the springboard concept. |
zelchenko | BAD QA |
| I don't know who to blame. Glenayre or Handspring. Maybe Handspring should have provided more shielding in the Visor from the get-go. Maybe Glenayre should find another way to prevent the retransmissions (software filter?) or add their own shielding. |
