| While the coverage was problematic (though obviously not Omnisky's fault), the product was excellent. While riding the bus, I was able to buy a book amazon, buy a cd player on ebay and read the New York Times. |

Tech support even admited that they have bugs in the software and the service... Email does not connect up right to my modem and I have had to do so many soft and hard reboots its horrid |

| When it is good it is very very good. When connectivity is good, it is very fast. I use it regularly on a commuter railroad. I know which part of the trip has the best connection. In my office it works well, but my experience at home is spotty. Once you learn the rules (see other comments), resets and software glitches vanish. I recommend it. |

| Love the unit. I use it to keep track/trade stocks, news and email. I use it mostly when the market is open. In building coverage in my area is weak, but it works where I need it. Battery life is great. Had reset problems, but it seams to have gone away after I deleted hackmaster (not disabled). It has been 4 days with no problems. I have removed and installed the unit about 12 times. |

| The coverage and service was much better than I expected. I was able to get my e-mail and surf the net in multiple cities with no problem. The problem is that with the Minstrel modem plugged in my Visor continuously freezes and I end up loosing my all data when I do a soft reset. In talking with OmniSky tech support, it doesn't appear that they think its a problem, so I am not hopeful for a quick fix. The convenience of having wireless access is not worth the problem of constantly needing to restore my unit. |

| I recently obtained the Minstrel S & the Omnisky service. Within minutes of signing up online I was surfing the web. I've had no problems, have been able to sign on everywhere I've been (inside/outside/remote areas). I wish they had color support, but Blazer is great for that. |

| I used Omnisky for 8 days straight in Las Vegas while attending the CES show. It worked flawlessly. I received about 300 emails during that time, and sent about 75 emails. I used aol instant messeger for a total of about 2 hours while I was there, and it worked great.
I found that you have to follow the simple rules that were outlined here at Visor Central while using the Minstrel S modem. (too bad I learned the hard way, before the article was posted).
1. Never remove the modem while turned on.
2. use the auto off feature of the modem, so that when you turn the prism off, the modem will shut down.
3. Even if you turn off the modem correctly, make sure to exit whatever application you are using that access's the modem.
During my 8 day trip, I removed the modem about 6 times, without any problems, as long as I followed the above 3 rules.
Finally, I'm able to leave my laptop at home.

| Coverage is sketchy at my house but good where I work, shop etc. Getting the modem up and running was a chore and once I disabled all hacks it works fine. You do have to power the modem down before taking it out to avoid a soft reset...I agree its hard to get running (I did suffer a couple of hard resets). Once I disabled hacks and go through "the procedure" to take the modem out, I'm fine. |
