Opinions: Total Recall Digital Voice Recorder
Doug | Nice, easy to product |
| I found the Total Recall to be easy to use. I particularly like its ability to be used on its own without having to tie up the Visor module slot. |
Anonymous | A couple more drawbacks. |
| I completely agree with the review on all the aspects it touched on. However I would like to add a couple more things that I found annoying. When playing back your recordings in the shuttle (to avoid having to switch between applications)there is no PAUSE feature. So trying to enter notes into the Visor while listening to the recording is VERY frustrating. I can speak much faster than I can write so when I fall behind I have to start the whole message over again FROM THE START! Also, as the reviewer states all messages recorded while the module is in the shuttle are time & date stamped with identical names (the time and date the module is inserted into the Visor) this makes choosing the correct message to delete difficult since there is no delete feature in the playback editing screen. These two drawbacks may be minor to some but it's just something I wish I would have known before I bought one. |
Aloha | It's a cool little recorder that does what it is supposed to, and more! |
| I have the product and it is a cool little recorder. It has the distinct advantage of being able to connect to your Handspring Visor. With the cool little recorder attached, you are ale to edit the digital recordings. It is the only recorder I have have had that you could do this type of editing with. The recorder does just what it is supposed to, and more! |
Bcrux | Wish list |
| I havnt used the product, but from what I have read and in comparison to the Go-Vox. I wish it had used the 1/2 the 4 megs for recording and allowed users the other 1/2 for storage. Then it would be worthwhile. |
andyland | No Mac support should be listed as "Con" |
| The lack of Mac support is a big deal to a lot of Visor owners. I'm glad the review mentioned it, but I think it should be included in the "Cons". (How brave of Anonymous to take ownership of his brilliantly witty purchase recommendation) |
PastorTC | Too buggy |
| This module is way to buggy. I have had problems with the desktop sync. I finally got it to work. But when I got it to work the unit stopped working in the battery pack. I was frustrated with the the fact that the unit constantly reset the quality of recordings. I didn't want high quality and low storage, I wanted high storage and low quality. Playback is barely audiable. I called tech support but never could get any helpful advice. I can't recommend this product. |
Anonymous | Easy to use/Cheap |
| Yes, it is easy to use and it helps one especially when you do not like to write a lot stuff when travelling. It is also cost effective. |
Way North | Good Product |
| I have owned the Targus since late December. I like the unit for its ability to do the job.
I think that the buttons need to be bigger. I would like to have file mover on the module for extra storage, but then again I would always like extra storage. I also notice that the unit uses wav and not mp3 or some more conpressed audio. It would be great to be able to download audio books to the unit. Overall, it is a great start. I am hoping that HS will add audio to the units soon with out taking up the springboard slot. |
Anonymous | Nobody cares about Mac support |
| Buy a real computer |
Jim | No Mac desktop software. No voice in place of text. |
| Targus has no plans to offer the desktop software for the Macintosh. Also, there should be the ability to attach a voice note to a record in place of a text note in other applications (e.g. in the To Do list). |
