Opinions: ShockSuit SportCase
Anonymous | Great looks, Great protection. |
| Only complaint is the lack of an IR access. |
Craigbob | Nice idea but execution needs work. |
| I ordered the Shocksuit and after about two weeks of debate I too returned it. It has some positives, good protection, belt hanging and easy access, but it also had too many negatives for my tastes.
Bulky
Poor fit for Visor
No IR cutout
Plastic frame on front interfered with power button.
and most importantly the belt clip sucked. It was a good idea, but poor execution. The little latch that is supposed to keep the case on the clip kept getting stuck when I would remove the case. I spent more time lifting up the metal plate on the underside and resetting the latch than I expected. In fact the case slipped off several times and if the visor had not been in such a protective environment it would have been a gonner.
So nice idea but poor execution. |
notme | too bulky |
| unless you plan on dropping your visor a lot, this is too much.
I just wanted something to replace the crappy clip-on cover the visor ships with. Unfortunately, with the shocksuit, the visor no longer fits in my pocket :( |
Jeremy Herrington | Not as sturdy as it looks |
| I was lured into buying a shocksuit, thinking it would be a sturdy case to protect my visor. After about a month the velcro cover wore out, leaving a flopping lid, and the two brackets that hold an external stylus broke off soon after that. RhinoSkin wasn't much help, either, telling me that "every product has its breaking point" (I guess 2-3 months is their breaking point). I've ordered a Rhodiana case in the meantime, as it seems to be rated very highly. |
rspitz | Worth the sense of security |
| Nice to be able to wear on my belt or leave in my briefcase without fear of the screen getting damaged |
Anonymous | Good protection, nice clip, good value |
| I really LIKE the clip, despite what some others have said.. It holds the case to you very securely, and is quite easy and fast to remove.
This case offeres good protection, and as I broke a screen on my old palm unit, that's something I'm quite interested in..
It's also butt cheap for what you get. HIghly recomended
(I also got The Nail for a stylus, and have had no trouble with it getting knocked out of misplaced. |
H. Bolter | good, but needs work |
| I think it provides very good shock
and impact protection for the Visor.
It IS bulky, but I expected that in a
protective-type case. The felt on the
inside of the case attracts dust and
lint like crazy. Also, I've had to
SuperGlue the velcro back on--the strip
inside the flap doesn't stand up well
to daily opening and closing of the
case. Finally, the stylus clip on the
outside is just plain silly--it's just
waiting to be snapped off.
However, for all that, the case fits my
needs pretty well. I'd recommend it, but
RhinoSkin needs to do some QA work on it. |
tbonney | Good protection, to bulky |
| I have this case and fully intent to replace it with a leather visor case. Its like having a brick hanging on my belt.
It was obviously designed for the Palm III and makes the visor much wider.
I'm just not will to sacrifice the nice slim feel and look of the visor for brick sized protection. |
Winkle | Lost Stylus first week |
| I need better design than this. My boss and I bought
two of these shocksuits. On his, the logo was off-center,
and the front cover was slightly torn at the seam
where it connects with the back. He decided to send his
back right away. I liked mine, and decided to keep it.
Within a week, I was missing my stylus and pissed about it.
What good is Protection if you have to be careful what you
bump/rub/lean up against while you're wearing it?
And another thing, ours smelled like pineapples when we first
got 'em. Anybody else notice this? |
Jay | Good Protection |
| At first glance, the Shocksuit appears to be very flimsy and of cheap construction. However, after having used it for three weeks and having taken it on a trip, I am impressed with how well it protects my visor. Other than wishing they'd put a cutout for the IR port, I have no real complaints about the case. I bought two, one for me and one for my wife. I keep my stylus on the outside and a spare in the silo. My wife prefers to keep her stylus in the silo. |
