HandyGPS
Usability Wishes Besides the things I mentioned above, I really wish the HandyGPS application had a better user interface. Although you can get a visual indication of satellite strength (the sat. image goes from gray to black when 4+ satellites are connected), I hate having use the menu to check the status. Making the top icons active in every screen (not just some of them) would greatly improve the interface. I want to be able to tap the satellite image and bring up the Satellites screen. Another annoyance for Visor Prism and Platinum owners is that if you tap on the title bar, most screens bring up a Warning asking if you would like to Cold Start the HandyGPS. You must use the Visor's Menu button for navigation. This Palm OS 3.5 Title bar bug needs to be fixed. I think that I should have the option to turn the Warning screen off when switching between HandyGPS and UbiGo, and I want to be able to turn off the Visor's screen when recording so I can save its batteries. Conclusion Nitpicking aside, the HandyGPS module by Nexian is a good GPS module
that is appropriate for anyone interested in getting into the world of
GPS. Most of the faults I found with the HandyGPS amount to those
"little things." If Nexian could improve the user interface and ditch UbiGo, this could be the GPS module to get.
