The Beat is on Thursday August 9, 2001 - 3:46 AM EST - By James Hromadka  Hagiwara Sys-Com has released its Beat Plus Springboard module.
The Beat Plus is a tone generator module that brings sound effects and music to the Visor. The module includes a CD with a special version of Zap! 2000/2016 that is optimized for the Beat Plus. I got a chance to use the Beat Plus, and Zap! 2016 was greatly enhanced by the new sound effects. The music was good too, although it only played between levels. The Liberty GameBoy emulator would be perfect for this module. Interested developers can visit this page for information on the SDK. The first thing that needs to be written is a hack/extension that outputs all of the Visor's sounds through the Beat Plus. That one feature would greatly enhance the Beat Plus' value. The Beat Plus is now available for $79.95. |
