Handspring licenses Springboard to Symbol Tuesday June 13, 2000 - 8:55 PM EST - By James Hromadka Handspring announced today that Symbol has licensed the Springboard technology to use in its handheld computing products. Symbol is the first licensee of the Springboard platform, and will use it in its rugged handheld computers. Symbol already has a barcode Springboard module for the Visor. This move is good for Handspring as the company tries to establish its Springboard as a standard in the industry, and is good for Symbol as it gains "the benefits of plug-and-play expansion to its large global customer base spanning enterprise, vertical and consumer markets." It will be interesting to see if Symbol makes a Windows CE handheld that utilizes Springboard technology. Click here for the press release. |
