Omnisky gets local Thursday January 4, 2001 - 2:17 PM EST - By James Hromadka Omnisky Corporation announced today that it is acquiring NomadIQ, a provider of location-based applications and services for handheld computers. This will allow integration of localized content for Omnisky users. From the press release: The NomadIQ service allows subscribers to access location-based information and interact with a community of users by leveraging both online and cached data. Once integrated with the OmniSky service, subscribers will be able to:Under the terms of the deal, NomadIQ's private shareholders get 2.5M shares of Omnisky stock. Omnisky expects to begin rolling out the expanded service towards the end of the second quarter. |
