Fun with GPS Friday January 5, 2001 - 2:16 PM EST - By James Hromadka With the HandyGPS shipping smoothly again and the Geode being released later this month, now's the time to look at some of the fun things you can do with GPS. Now you can play hide-and-seek (with a twist). Geocaching is where you setup a specific location for people to find. When found, there is often a notebook to sign (so other visitors know you were there) and some small reward. When you find a geocache, the only rule is that you leave something for the next person to find. See this FAQ for details on geocaching. Once my family climbed (more like walked  ) a small mountain called Park Cone in Colorado. At the top was a jar with a compass and a little notebook where we recorded our feat. Maybe I'll setup a geocache in the Houston area for VisorCentral readers. Could be a neat promotion!
Another use of GPS that I found on Slashdot is degree confluence, where people work together to photograph the integer degree intersections of the world.
