My-Vox vs. Total Recall - Who should you speak to?
Bonus!! This is where the Targus Total Recall pulls ahead and no longer makes this a neck and neck race. Targus has included a 'Shuttle' and desktop software that rounds out their module and makes it worth your while. The Shuttle is a compact battery pack that can power the module when it's not inserted into your Visor. This tandem is lightweight, compact, and brilliant. It allows the user to carry around the voice recorder when you don't want your Visor around and it provides a method of listening to recordings while using your Visor in a different application. Once the module is inserted into the Visor, all recordings made while in the Shuttle appear in the list. However, they all have a time stamp relating to the insertion of the module, not when the recording took place. As one commenter pointed out in my recent review of the Total Recall, it is understandable that the module does not have a built-in clock and therefore can't time stamp your recording when in the Shuttle. The second bonus comes in the form of PC desktop software (Unfortunately, there is no Mac support). Using a conduit, all your messages are uploaded to a desktop utility that allows you to keep track of recordings and save them as .wav files. This is a great touch as it allows the user to free up space on the module and still keep recordings from the past. It also allowed me to email recordings and even post examples of sound quality in my review. |
